Cute Paper Punch Wall Hanging

I am currently in the process of turning Lucie's Room into more of a big girl room. As she will be getting a new "big girl" bed in the spring when she turns two. I have looked high and low for stuff to hang on the wall, and can't find anything!! Then I ran into this little idea on http://www.pinterest.com/est.com/. It was soo easy, and there are soo many different ways to make this work for any room in your house.

First you are gonna need:

*A frame- Any frame would work with out the glass, but I chose a shadowbox frame ($14.00 @ target)

*Paper punch cutout tools- I used two flower styles, but hearts, butterflies or just about any cutout would work. I think music notes with old sheet music would be fab!

*You will also need paper...anything with a pattern works great. I used scrapbook paper, but old book pages or wrapping paper works too. I do think smaller pattern work best.

*Foam tape- It's really important to use foam tape because it's thick and gives your cut outs the raised look. I use round ones called "sticky doos" that you can get at Hobby Lobby.

*You will also need one solid sheet of paper that you will be sticking all your cutouts onto.

I first started by tracing the mat that came with my frame onto my paper so that I knew the guidelines my cutouts would fit within. It's very important to trace these, and the upcoming gridlines very light....you will be erasing them later.

Next, you draw a grid...each place the line cross is where a cutout will go. You can do as many or as few as you like. I did a lot as I have an 8x10 space to cover.

Then, place bold dots at each crossing point, and then erase all your lines. Your now ready to start applying your cutouts.

Last just apply your cutouts in a random pattern until all the bold dots you made are covered. Put it in the frame and your done. This craft was soo easy...when I was done the older girls informed me they wanted one for their rooms too! LOL.

Below are some other ideas on how to make this craft work for your house. Hope you enjoy doing this as much as I did...Have fun crafting...

Basic Cake Pops

Soo today I decided to forgo cake pops with the assistance of some little hands. I wanna start off by saying that I used the recipe, and instructions from http://www.bakerella.com/ ...this lady is a cake pop master. We did the basic cake pops, but if you wanna get fancy she has some AMAZING ideas on her website. I think she can turn just about anything into a cake pop. Ok so here are the directions and my step by step photos...

1 box cake mix (cook as directed on box for 13 X 9 cake)

1 can frosting (16oz)

Sprinkles (optional)

Wax paper (I used non stick aluminium foil)

Lollipop sticks

Candy melts

After cake is cooked and cooled completely, crumble into large bowl. Some ppl even say run it through a food processor. Also I would definitely say to leave any crusty parts from the edges out!

Next mix the frosting...I started with half a can, and kept adding till I got to desired consistancy.

Roll mixture into quarter size balls and place on wax paper covered cookie sheet. (Should make 45-50) Melt chocolate in the microwave per directions on package. (30 sec intervals, stirring in between.) I skipped this step and used a fondue pot...much easier and the chocolate stayed smooth!

Dip the tip of your lollipop stick in a little of the melted candy coating and insert into the cake balls. (Insert a little less than halfway.) <----- VERY IMPORTANT Then place them in the freezer for a little while to firm up.

Once firm, carefully insert the cake ball into the candy coating by holding the lollipop stick and rotating until covered. Once covered remove and softly tap and rotate until the excess chocolate falls off. Don’t tap too hard or the cake ball will fall off. Also if adding sprinkles wait till the chocolate/candy coating has mostly dried...the sprinkles make the coating heavy and it wants run off! Then place in a styrofoam block to dry.

Once completely dried they are ready to eat...SOOO GOOD! I would definitely say these are slightly harder than they look, but once you get the hang of it they are soo much fun! Hope you enjoy!

Crafter turned Blogger! EEEK!

I first want to tell everyone that I know absolutely NOTHING about blogging...Luckily my blog IS about something I do know about, and that's making something from nothing. I've always been told that I should sell my crafts...Honestly I just want to teach other ppl the things that I have taugh myself, and some that I learned from my sweet mother(who was always the driving force behind my creativity). It's a lot easier than you might think! You just have to look at ordinary objects beyond what they really are. I'm hoping to have a variety of topix to post about from food and drink to candles and wall hangings! I am soo looking forward to sharing my creativity with you all, and hopeful help you realize that there is a crafter in EVERYONE! I'm hoping to get some stuff posted soon...have a couple crafts planned for this weekend and cake pops with the kiddos! Look forward to crafting with you soon!
